It's That Time of the Year? Valentine's!

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and... I believe in miracles.
— Audrey Hepburn

I am always the first one who buys candy and gets my décor out to celebrate! I love a reason to feel festive and do little things for my children.  But in my business, I'm constantly reminded that we are not loving ourselves nearly enough.  No one is going to take care of our needs like we can, and as for me personally, I am tired of WAITING!

Don't get me wrong, my Hubby is a great gift giver.  He is very heartfelt and he gives it so much thought! Yet I still find that there is one thing that is just not getting addressed: Worthiness.  My worthiness. Yes, I'm still of the mindset that there are certain expectations that I have wanted and waited for in my spouse.  Well that's not really fair, is it? What that is saying is that expectation is a pre-arranged resentment.  This Valentine's Day, are you waiting for that extra special something? Or can you think to give to yourself? As your beauty expert, I would be grossly dropping the ball if I did not bring up that our abiltity to age gracefully is all about treating yourself with the highest of standards! There is no need to compare; there is Barney's and there is K-mart.

So I'm offering a few simple suggestions just to test yourself on how and where you fall on the scale of loving yourself.  Are you waiting for someone else in your life to take care of your needs and wants and, oh yeah, the big one: DESIRES?

What are you waiting on?  Does this sound familiar, "When I lose that weight, then I'll go horseback riding, rollerskating or wear that two piece."?  Okay, I'm not gonna wear a two piece. What about "When I'm completely out of debt I'll travel?" Or "When I finish the back yard I'll invite my friends over?" "When I become a better cook, I'll entertain more?"

Well, I'm gonna start with myself this Valentines Day. Of course I'll do something special for the Hubby, I do love him! I just want to look at ways I would like to covet myself more and maybe treat myself like a fine wine or piece of art or even better: Couture clothing! That kind of goes with my word for the year: CHANEL. Did you read that blog? You see, I don't own a piece of couture clothing (yet)! What goes into it being so coveted and costly? Well for one, only the finest goes into the making of couture between the material, the mastery in the seamwork, everything about it is of the highest standard. I think that's a good start. What am I putting into my body? What effort am I making to get dressed and prepared for my day? I mean, if I did own something couture, would I just throw it on the foot of the bed when I took it off? Would I go work out in it?

What's one inspired action that I can take to treat myself in the highet regard? Maybe a truffle with a good glass of wine instead of Hersey kisses? I'm certain that if I eat a Hersey kiss, that I can not just eat one!  But, a fabulaous truffle is so very satisfying. FYI: my Hubby has purchased not one but three bags of red, pink and white peanut M & M's , Yes I've been partaking in the madness of so much chocolate.

So I'm just doing some thinking and yet at the same time I want to look at things and take some much needed action. I've listed a few things to hopefully prompt you to love yourself a little more and to make this Valentine's about YOU!  Small steps can add some much-needed love without waiting on anyone or anything!  Maybe as you're lathering on all those amazing ingredients I send you home with, think about immersing yourself a little longer in the tub or taking a meditative walk verses a high impact run.

Here are some things to think about:

  • How about seducing yourself?
  • Write yourself a love list.
  • What about a daily brag?
  • What do you love about yourself?
  • Dress like a woman in love! ( I love this one).
  • Demand respect from Yourself FOR Yourself!
  • Plan a desire date to be wild, daring, even ridiculous!

Happy Valentine's Day ladies! I hope this gives you something to think about! Now go out and buy that lipstick!  Jenell             http://www.jenellgarcia.com/
